Clarkson Institute Sends Inaugural Cohort of Top Young Mathematical Talent to Cambridge for Exclusive Programme

Our first cohort marks an important milestone in Clarkson Institute’s journey to identify, challenge and nurture the next generation of mathematicians

Hong Kong, 16 August 2026 — We are proud to mark an important milestone with the completion of the first cohort of the Clarkson Institute Mathematical Competition & Talent Programme (CIMP), alongside the continuation of our partnership with Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge.

Selected through our inaugural Clarkson Institute Mathematical Competition earlier this year, the Top 20 scorers earned places on a fully funded, exclusive two-week residential Advanced Mathematics Summer Programme at Lucy Cavendish College. Designed by College Professors, the programme introduced students to university-level approaches to mathematics while giving them the opportunity to learn alongside peers who share their intellectual curiosity.

For us, this first cohort represents more than the completion of a single summer programme. It marks the first full cycle of a pathway we created to identify young people with exceptional mathematical potential, challenge them through rigorous academic experiences, and support their continued development.

Following the successful inaugural programme, we are pleased to continue our collaboration with Lucy Cavendish College and to further develop the programme together over the coming years, with a continued emphasis on academic quality and an enriching student experience.

Building on everything we have learnt from our first year, we will continue to refine the programme’s academic structure, student experience and international reach. Through future cohorts, our aim is to nurture not only technical ability, but also independence of thought, intellectual curiosity and the problem-solving skills that enable young people to apply mathematics beyond examinations and the classroom.

The continuation of this partnership marks an important step in our longer-term journey to build a lasting platform for mathematical talent development — one that continues to discover, challenge and nurture promising young mathematicians in the years ahead.

As we look ahead to our next cohort, we hope to discover even more young people with a passion and talent for mathematics, and give them the opportunity to challenge themselves, connect with like-minded peers and take their mathematical journey further through CIMP.
